El Salvador is excited about Messi in a goalless draw against Inter Miami - Preseason 2024
Luis Suárez debuted with Las Garzas after starting alongside Leo, Busquets, and Alba at the Cuscatlán Stadium.
Inter Miami began its tour towards the 2024 MLS season with a goalless draw against the El Salvador team in a friendly held at the Cuscatlán Stadium that went crazy to see Lionel Messi .
Not only Salvadoran fans gathered to witness the Argentine star live, but there were also fans from Honduras and Guatemala who made the trip to San Salvador for more than 11 hours, while there were others who paid up to $400 to fulfill their dream of seeing Messi.
The match marked Luis Suárez ‘s debut with Inter Miami and his reunion on the pitch with his friends he made at Barcelona: Messi , Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba , all starting and playing the first 45 minutes.
The friendly match lacked spectacle with a few sparks from Messi looking for Suárez and with the Salvadoran goalkeeper Mario González stopping the few attempts by Las Garzas led by Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino.
l Salvador was able to take the victory in the 82nd minute with a header from Styven Vásquez that crashed into the crossbar of the club based in south Florida.
This is the first match on Inter Miami’s world tour, which will face FC Dallas on Monday at the Cotton Bowl Stadium and then travel to Saudi Arabia to face Al Hilal on January 29 and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr on February 1st.
The tour will continue in Asia facing the Hong Kong team in that city on February 4, while on the 7th of the same month the MLS team will face Vissel Kobe in Japan.
Finally, Inter Miami will return to the United States to host Newell’s Old Boys, the team Messi played for as a child, on February 15 at the DRV PNK Stadium.
Inter Miami will debut in the 2024 MLS season facing Real Salt Lake at home on February 21.
